Taking Your Furniture From "Ignored to Adored"

is what Chalky Patina Paint will do !
So get your apron on & roll up your sleeves

Step 1 - Select your piece ! - remove all knobs, hinges and/or handles

Step 2 - Make sure it’s clean. I like to clean with vinegar & water  but if it’s really old and gummy - mineral spirits works well.  If it’s untreated wood - just dust free is all you need to do.

Step 3 - Although sanding is not always required - with shiny surfaces I always give it a quick scuff so to speak, with a sanding block, to increase adhesion.

Always sand in a well ventilated area !

Step 4 - After shaking you paint well, then stir, use your Bluestone House™ natural bristle chalking brush to apply your paint. Some colours may require a second coat.

Step 5 - Give your piece a light sand all over to smooth out the finish.

Always sand in a well ventilated area !

You may be happy with the look at this point - if so you're all done ! You can now add your hardware back on.

If you like the French Country distressed look, that is so desired, sand your piece lightly around the edges.

You cannot make a mistake ! 

If you sand too much, add some more paint. Just sand to your desired look !

Step 6 -For added protection apply the Bluestone House™ Natural Beeswax with a waxing brush in a circular motion then,using a clean rag, buff to a shine, or Silky Satin Interior Clear Topcoat can be brushed on.

Special Notes :
If you are painting a piece of furniture that is already painted, remove any old or flaking paint. Do this in a well ventilated area !
If you want to be sure that the knots or tannin in the wood do not bleed through - use a blocking primer. Personally I like it when the tannin & knots bleed throughout ! - it adds to the Patina of the piece !

Mode d’emploi :

Mettez votre tablier et retroussez vos manches.

Étape 1 - Choisissez votre meuble! - retirez tous les boutons, toutes les charnières ou poignées. 

Étape 2 – Assurez-vous qu’il soit propre. J’aime utiliser du vinaigre et de l’eau pour nettoyer, mais si le meuble est très vieux et collant, un solvant minéral s’avère efficace. Si c’est du bois non traité, vous aurez simplement besoin de dépoussiérer le meuble. 

Étape 3 - Bien que sabler le meuble n’est pas toujours nécessaire, je préfère frotter rapidement les surfaces brillantes à l’aide d’un bloc de ponçage pour faciliter l’adhésion. Il faut toujours poncer le meuble dans un espace aéré.

Étape 4 – Après avoir bien agité votre peinture, appliquez-la en utilisant votre pinceau aux poils naturels pour la peinture à la craie. Il est nécessaire d’appliquer une deuxième couche pour certaines couleurs.

Étape 5 - Poncez légèrement votre meuble pour obtenir un fini lisse. Il faut toujours poncer le meuble dans un espace aéré. 

À cette étape, le résultat peut vous sembler satisfaisant. Si c’est le cas, vous avez terminé! Vous pouvez maintenant remettre la quincaillerie en place. 

Si vous aimez le style champêtre français et ancien tant recherché, poncez légèrement votre meuble autour des bords. Impossible de faire une erreur! Si vous poncez trop le meuble, ajoutez plus de peinture. Poncez le meuble jusqu’à l’obtention du style désiré.

Étape 6 – Pour une protection supplémentaire, appliquez de la cire d’abeille naturelle à l’aide d’un pinceau pour la cire dans un mouvement circulaire, puis frottez avec un linge propre pour obtenir un fini brillant. 

Peinture acrylique 100 % à base d’eau - très faible teneur en COV, nettoyage au savon et à l’eau.

Remarques: 

Si vous appliquez de la peinture sur un meuble qui est déjà peint, retirez l’ancienne peinture ou la peinture écaillée. Il faut le faire dans un espace bien aéré. 

Pour éviter que les nœuds et les tannins dans le bois ne tachent pas le fini, utilisez un apprêt qui bloque les taches. 

Mise en garde lorsque vous retirez la peinture au plomb : 

Quand vous raclez, poncez ou enlevez de la vieille peinture, la poussière au plomb peut se retrouver dans l’air. LE PLOMB EST TOXIQUE. L’EXPOSITION À LA POUSSIÈRE AU PLOMB PEUT CAUSER DES MALADIES GRAVES COMME DES DOMMAGES AU CERVEAU SURTOUT CHEZ LES ENFANTS. LES FEMMES ENCEINTES DOIVENT ÉVITER TOUTE EXPOSITION.
